Select Allstate Canada Agencies to be Drop-Off Locations for The Shoebox Project for Women

Between November 14 – December 16 select Allstate agencies will act as drop-off locations on behalf of the Shoebox Project

MARKHAM, ON (November 15, 2022) – Continuing its commitment to fostering an environment of inclusion, involvement and empowerment for those who experience barriers to participation, Allstate Insurance Company of Canada (“Allstate Canada”) will be supporting the Shoebox Project for Women for the seventh consecutive year. The Shoebox Project aims to share empathy, kindness and compassion with local women impacted by homelessness through the collection and distribution of gift-filled shoeboxes and messages of support.

Allstate Canada is proud to announce that between November 14 – December 16 select Allstate agencies will act as drop-off locations for gift-filled shoeboxes on behalf of the charity. This will be the first year Allstate agencies will accept gift-filled shoeboxes for The Shoebox Project since before the pandemic.

“We are being challenged by a new face of homelessness and its meaning,” says Lesley Hendry, Executive Director, The Shoebox Project for Women. “As our organization evolves, our focus is expanding beyond meaningful gifts of kindness to a broader education campaign. Our hope is that a Shoebox gift will not only provide a woman with the strength and hope to carry on, but will also be a powerful vessel to foster equity, challenge stigma and create meaningful change.”

Over the past six years, Allstate Canada and its employees have helped to provide more than 6,500 shoeboxes and over $150,000 in donations to the Shoebox Project across Canada.

“We know that the holiday season can be especially tough for women impacted by homelessness,” says London Bradley, President and CEO of Allstate Canada. “We often take for granted how the simplest things can make a major impact to those in need. That’s why we’re proud to continue to reaffirm our commitment to this wonderful organization that is making a difference for so many women across Canada.”
