Every minute, someone faces abuse in their own home – a place that should be safe. In Canada, over 139,000 people were victims of family violence in 2023, with intimate partner violence affecting more than 123,000 individuals according to Statistics Canada. Additionally, 96% of domestic violence victims experience economic abuse by family members– a widespread yet often overlooked form of control that can significantly prevent victims from moving forward and rebuilding their lives.
These numbers are not just statistics. They represent lives disrupted, families fractured, and cycles of trauma that too often go unbroken.
