What’s included in mandatory motorcycle insurance coverage?
If you are in an accident, Liability coverage protects if you’re held legally liable for injury to or the death of other people. If there is damage to another person’s vehicle or property, you are also covered.
- Accident Benefits
You are entitled to compensation for medical expenses, funeral expenses, rehabilitation, and loss of income due to disability (not applicable in Quebec) and more.
- Direct Compensation Property Damage
If you are involved in an incident with another insured motorist in your province, and if they are at fault, you are covered for damage to your motorcycle and to property it is carrying (Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia).
What optional motorcycle insurance coverages can I get?
- Collision or Upset
Upon collision with another vehicle or object, you are covered for the cost of repair or the replacement of your motorcycle (up to its actual value less your deductible).
Events such as theft, vandalism, fire, falling objects, lightning, explosion, windshield damage, or impact with an animal are covered (only if the damage is not resulting from a collision).
- All Perils
You can get the most complete coverage by combining Collision and Comprehensive coverages.
