Ontario law requires drivers to carry core coverages that protect you financially after a collision—whether you’re on busy highways like the 401 or in Ontario cities like Toronto, Mississauga, and Ottawa.
Mandatory car insurance coverage includes:- Third‑Party Liability Insurance – Covers injuries or property damage you cause to others
- Accident Benefits – Provides medical, rehabilitation, attendant care, and related benefits after an accident
- Uninsured Automobile Coverage – Protects you if you’re involved in a collision with an uninsured or unidentified drive
These mandatory coverages help protect you financially after a collision anywhere in Ontario—so you’re not left paying out of pocket for injuries or damage.
Comprehensive protection includes:
- Specified Perils – fire, theft, severe weather
- Collision or Upset – damage from at‑fault collisions, single‑vehicle accidents, or situations where DCPD does not apply
- Comprehensive – protects against non‑collision damage” such as vandalism, storms, falling objects, animal collisions, and glass damage
- All Perils – covers loss or damage from both collision and non‑collision perils, subject to policy terms
Designed to help protect vehicles in areas where theft claims are more common and to protect drivers in high-traffic regions.
Customize your coverage with add‑ons like:
- Claim Forgiveness – Helps prevent a claim surcharge after your first eligible at‑fault claim1
- Disappearing Deductible – Lowers your deductible over time with continued claim‑free driving2
- Ticket Forgiveness/Minor Conviction Protection – Helps protect your rate from increasing due to certain minor driving convictions3
- Loss of Use – Covers eligible rental or transportation costs when covered damage prevents you from driving, subject to the coverage responding to your claim
- Waiver of Depreciation – Helps ensure you’re reimbursed for the vehicle’s original value, not its depreciated value
- Direct Compensation–Property Damage (DCPD) – Covers damage to your vehicle when you’re not at fault, based on the degree of fault
These options give extra flexibility whether you drive in busy cities like Hamilton or more rural parts of Northern Ontario.

*Terms and conditions apply, based on national average as of September 30, 2025; individual Ontario savings may vary.
1. Claim forgiveness: When this endorsement is added to the policy, a forgivable claim will not affect the premium calculation at renewal, subject to a limit of one forgivable claim every six years.
2. Disappearing deductible: This protection is only available for passenger vehicles, excluding motorhomes. If no claim involving an eligible vehicle is reported during the policy term, the deductibles for Protection 2 – Collision and Upset and Protection 3 –All Perils Other Than Collision or Upset under Section B will decrease by $100 at renewal for every consecutive year the insured goes without a claim, until they disappear. If the insured reports a claim during the policy term, the deductibles for both coverages will be reinstated to their original amounts at renewal. Any vehicle to which this coverage applies will be identified in the Declarations Section. When a policy covers more than one vehicle, this coverage applies only to the specifically designated vehicles. The Claim Forgiveness endorsement applied to an insured vehicle does not prevent the deductibles from being reinstated after a claim.
3. Ticket forgiveness/minor conviction surcharge waiver: "Minor driving offence" refers to certain minor convictions in the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8., as defined in Allstate’s underwriting guidelines and applicable law. Rates will not be increased or surcharged if insured has no more than one minor Highway Traffic Act conviction every 3 years. Available to customers in Ontario only.
4. Repair guarantee applies only to work completed by Allstate‑approved repair partners. Terms and conditions apply.
5. Savings for safe driving: Savings apply to major coverage only. Requirements for app downloading, enrollment, and trip recording apply. Terms and Conditions Apply. Contact your Allstate claims professional or local agent for more details.
